Best Meeting Time for UK and India Teams (Live, With the BST Switch)
Unlike the US, the UK and India do share a working day, but how much of it depends on the season. Here are the best slots for this week and the two dates a year they move.
The numbers in this guide update themselves. Meeting times are for Thu, Oct 29, with daylight saving applied.
The short answer
Book the call between 9:30 and 11:00 AM in London. This week that's 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM in India: mid-morning for the UK side, mid-to-late afternoon for India, and inside a normal 9-to-5 for both.
That's the big difference from US to India scheduling: there's a real shared window, so nobody has to start early or stay late. The Meeting Planner shows it for any date and any UK or Indian city.
London to India, hour by hour
Worked out live for Thu, Oct 29. London is on GMT this week; India is always on IST.
| London (GMT) | India (IST) | How it lands |
|---|---|---|
| 8:00 AM | 1:30 PM | Early in the UK. India is just after lunch. |
| 9:00 AM | 2:30 PM | UK starts the day. India is in the afternoon. |
| 9:30 AM | 3:00 PM | A good default. Both sides are settled into the day. |
| 10:00 AM | 3:30 PM | Also a good default. |
| 11:00 AM | 4:30 PM | Fine, but India is getting near the end of the day. |
| 12:00 PM | 5:30 PM | Lunch in the UK, late in India. Use only if you must. |
| 1:00 PM | 6:30 PM | After hours in India. |
How much overlap you actually get
India doesn't use daylight saving. The UK does. So the size of your shared window changes twice a year, on the UK dates:
| UK clocks | India is ahead by | Shared 9-to-5 window (London time) | Same window in India |
|---|---|---|---|
| British Summer Time (BST, UTC+1), late March to late October | 4 hours 30 minutes | 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (3.5 hours) | 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM |
| Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, UTC+0), late October to late March | 5 hours 30 minutes | 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (2.5 hours) | 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM |
The UK changes on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October. In 2026 the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October; in 2027 they go forward on Sunday 28 March. If your weekly call sits at 12:00 PM London in summer, it falls outside India's working day as soon as the UK goes back to GMT. Move it to 11:00 AM or earlier before the switch.
Other UK and Indian cities
Every city in Great Britain and Northern Ireland uses the same time as London, and all of India uses one time zone, IST. So Manchester to Bengaluru, Edinburgh to Chennai or Belfast to Pune all work exactly like the table above. You don't need a separate check for each office.
For a recurring call
- 1Default to 10:00 AM London.
That's 3:30 PM in India this week, and it stays inside India's working day all year.
- 2Keep it under 90 minutes.
In winter the window is only 2.5 hours. Long workshops belong in the morning, London time.
- 3Set a reminder for late October and late March.
Those are the weeks the India time moves. A calendar file from the planner handles it for you, but anyone who wrote the time down by hand will be an hour off.
